The sketchbook is my friend. It helps to beat loneliness, is a communication tool with locals, and it enriches my journey. After a ride, a wash or when lucky after a shower, I gather my drawing stuff and spend many hours in high concentration. Trying to sketch a busy market, a river or rice paddies, life on the streets, or interesting details in architecture.

Sketches USA, part 3, Kentucky, Missouri
Sketches USA, part 2, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland
Sketches Quebec, Canada
I am staying approximately 2 weeks in this beautiful Canadian province. The early cobwebs of the flight and the stress in getting over the Appalachian Mountains in Maine and Quebec took a lot out of the old body so a rest with my friends JP and Doum is well used. Here some pics from on the road.
[I have added a tablet of Ceruleum Blue and a tube of white gouache to my kit. Hope I get those sky colours right]
Sketches USA, Massachusetts
These few sketches are made in Europe. I was very busy for most of the time whilst being with the Smokkelaars but managed to do a few studies of mother who fought a few infections as a result of serious treatments. [Hence the sun glasses for an eye infection]. Drawing her was good though and brought me closer to this great woman.
